Holmes County to Host Annual Tourism Conference
September 16, 2008Holmes County to Host Annual Tourism Conference
Tourism directors from across the state will turn into tourists themselves this week when they visit Holmes County for the Ohio Association of Convention & Visitors Bureau (OACVB) Annual Educational Conference Sept. 17 18 at the Inn at Honey Run.
The Educational Conference provides a forum for CVB executives and staff to discuss best practices and industry challenges.
According to Joan Van Offeren, president of OACVB and executive director of Lake Erie Shores & Islands East, Hosting our conference in Holmes County is an opportunity to showcase the Inn at Honey Run to destination marketers all of whom proudly promote ALL of Ohio.
In conjunction with the educational conference, the Middy Awards Luncheon will take place on Sept. 18 at noon. The Middys recognize excellence in marketing programs among OACVB members, in categories such as brochures, specialty items, electronic communication, print communications and overall tourism campaign. Entries are judged by industry experts on planning, objective, effectiveness of message, creativity and design.
The conference also offers the following seminars designed to provide CVB directors with tools to increase tourism in Ohio:
· Re-spinning the Web. Learn how to effectively maximize the power of the Internet.
· Demystifying Web 2.0. Find out how to overcome the challenges facing marketers and advertisers.
· To Be or Not to Be? What is Your CVBs Game Plan? This will be a panel discussion on event planning and board training.
It wont be all work for these CVB directors who will be staying at the Inn at Honey Run. Theyll also sample local wine and cheese and have a presentation from the Amish & Mennonite Heritage Center.
The OACVB Annual Educational Conference provides an excellent opportunity for CVB directors and their staff members to convene in one location to learn the latest industry trends and to network with their peers, said Phillip Craig, executive director of OACVB.
I would like to personally thank Education Committee Chair Dee Grossman of the Tuscarawas County CVB and Shasta Mast of the Holmes County Chamber of Commerce & Tourism Bureau for their efforts in putting such a great event together. In addition to the fabulous programming, attendees will get the chance to enjoy all that the Inn at Honey Run has to offer, which by itself is worth the trip!
